Lane Evans is an RSPA Master Professional and a Level 3 Certified Tennis Specialist with the Professional Tennis Registry, now living in High Point, NC with his wife Lori. With a tennis teaching career that has spanned some 45-plus years, Lane is in his 37th as an RSPA member. Lane also spent 22 of those years as a Club GM and 15 years as a fitness professional, training both tennis players and high-level golfers.
Lane grew up in High Point. He attended elementary school, junior high and one year of high school before he and his family moved away. However, Lane never lost sight of his High Point and North Carolina roots. He later returned to attend High Point College and play college tennis. Lane left after his senior year without his degree only to return in 2007 to finish his degree in English and proudly walk with the class of 2010.
Lane served one term on the RSPA National Board of Directors. During his tenure, he chaired the RSPA National Pickleball Committee, laying the ground work for today’s pickleball certifications, the RSPA National Past President’s Committee and the National Fitness & Wellness Committee, where he and his committee drafted the current Tennis Fitness Specialist Degree.
With over 2,600 RSPA Education Credits, Lane was recognized by both Missouri Valley and Southern Divisions for multiple years as their Education Merit Award winner.
Lane is a Master Tennis Performance Specialist with the iTPA (International Tennis Performance Association) and an ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association) Master Trainer. He is certified by RacquetFit, which he helped write the curriculum for, and TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) at Fitness Levels 1 & 2 and Super Speed Golf at all three levels. He also holds a certification from the Kovacs Institute as a Serve Specialist.
Before just recently returning to High Point, where he grew up, Lane was the Lead Teaching Professional at The University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK where he worked with all levels of players.
He also volunteered his time at First Serve of OKC, First Tee of OKC and several area High Schools. He currently coaches the Westchester Country Day School boys team right here in High Point.
Lane’s past awards include the Carlton Harris NC Professional of the Year, the USTA NC Walt Stamer Senior Player of the Year, the Alan Henry RSPA Southern Professional of the Year, the RSPA Missouri Valley Professional of the Year, the RSPA National Industry Excellence Award and the Fred Burdick Pride of the South award winner.
In 2021, Lane was recognized by the RSPA as the Alex Gordon National Professional of the Year.
Lane has just completed and published his first book, A Tennis Life: Tales Told from the Ad Court.
