JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports men's D3 hockey team saw its run in the as the ninth seed in the 2026 AAU College Hockey National Tournament come to a close following a 7-4 setback to Springfield College on Friday evening.
The Panthers, who traveled to Jacksonville, Fla., opened the tournament with a 13-7 victory over Columbia University on Wednesday evening. In the victory, High Point came through with 56 shots, including a 22-shot outing in the first period. The Panthers scored 12 goals in the final two period, including seven in the final frame.
Grady Murphy led the way for the Panthers' offense, netting two goals.
High Point faced off against a familiar foe in the second game of the tournament, going head-to-head with Liberty. The Panthers emerged with 25 shots in the game, scoring their lone goal of the game in the second, which came off the stick of Colin Donovan following a pass from
Nick Fallon.
Looking to keep their hopes alive against Springfield College, the Panthers scored four second period goals to tie the game at four-all starting the third. Springfield College scored three unanswered, despite nine shots in the third, to secure the victory. High Point led the way with 34 shots on the night.
