HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports program's second weekend of action was highlighted by a 6-4 victory over Duke in men's hockey white (D3) action and eight student athletes reaching the podium in its first-ever triathlon competition.
Men's Hockey White (DIII)
Sept. 11 | at Duke | W, 6-4
The High Point University ICS men's ice hockey (DIII) program opened its 2026-27 season with a decisive 6-4 victory over Duke on Friday, September 11th.
Spencer Sternhell enjoyed a hat trick in his Panthers' debut, netting the first goal of the season for High Point's Division III unit along the way. He also added the fourth and sixth goal of the evening.
High Point also received one goal each from
Grady Murphy and
Mason Hice in the clash with the Blue Devils.
Women's Soccer
Sept. 11 | at Elon | L, 3-1
The High Point University ICS women's soccer team returned to the pitch on Friday, September 11th, squaring off against their second Triad foe in as many weeks—this time heading to Elon.
The Panthers lone goal of the contest came from Elizabeth Meagher, who will be credited with the first High Point goal of the season.
High Point's clash with East Carolina in Greenville, N.C., on Sunday afternoon was postponed. A new date has not been determined at this time.
Men's Soccer (Purple)
Sept. 12 | at Davidson | L, 2-0
Sept. 13 | vs. Charlotte | L, 1-0
The High Point University ICS men's soccer (purple) team kicked off the 2026-27 season with back-to-back games over the weekend against a pair of in-state foes.
The Panthers open the season open the season on the road at Davidson, falling by a final score of 2-0 on Saturday, September 12th. High Point quickly returned to action on Sunday afternoon at Congdon, suffering a 1-0 setback to Charlotte.
Men's Soccer (White)
Sept. 12 | vs. Coastal Carolina | L, 2-0
Sept. 13 | vs. N.C. State | L, 3-0
The High Point University ICS men's soccer (white) team also played a pair of contests over the weekend, both taking place at home.
The Panthers opened the 2026-27 campaign by hosting Coastal Carolina at Vert Stadium on Saturday, falling by a 2-0 decision.
The following day, High Point hosted N.C. State at Congdon Field for their second match of the season. The Wolfpack delivered a 3-0 win as High Point will now look to change its fortune in a September 20th clash at North Carolina.
Triathlon
Sept. 13 | at Outer Banks Triathlon | Manteo, N.C.
The High Point University ICS triathlon program sent eight student athletes to the podium in its first-ever competition in program history on Saturday, September 13th.
The Outer Banks Triathlon marked the Panther coaching debut of
Matthew Clancy, who took over the role in mid-April.
The Panthers participated in two different races, including the Olympic Competition and the Sprint Competition.
The Olympic Competition consisted of a 1500-meter swim, 25-mile bike race and a 6.2-mile run. High Point's Allie Pratt earned the distinction of being second female overall finisher, while Lincoln Richardson placed first in his age group and fourth overall.
John Michael Zimmerman was also the top finisher in his age group, closing fifth overall. Meanwhile, Emerson Siefken was third in his age group for the Panthers and placed 13th overall in the event.
Meanwhile, the Sprint Competition consisted of a 750-meter swim, 12-mile bike race and a 3.1-mile run. In this event, J.D. Damian capped off the race as the third overall men's finisher. Teammates Tucker Cosby, who finished first in his age group and fourth overall, and Drake Dearborn, who closed second in his age group and fifth overall, were also solid for the Panthers.
Among others who had great outings in the Sprint Competition were Brady Maul (first in age group), Andrew Morrison (sixth in age group) and Cody Rocchio (eighth in age group).
Women's Volleyball

The High Point University ICS women's volleyball program had its first contests of the 2026-27 season over the weekend in Wilmington, N.C.
High Point opened the tournament with a clash against host UNC Wilmington, tying the Seahawk (Navy) squad 1-1 by scores of 26-24, 23-25. The Panthers then faced North Carolina (Blue), falling in two sets by margins of 25-12 and 25-11.
In the final match, Tennessee 'B' clipped the Panthers by scores of 25-8 and 25-20.
