High Point University’s Intercollegiate Club Sports program announced the appointment of Bret Williams as the new Head Tennis Coach on December 24, 2025. Williams brings over a decade of experience in tennis instruction, program development and facility management to the role, which positions HPU’s club tennis program for continued growth and success for the sustainable future.

Williams is a USPTA Certified Professional and a highly skilled player with an NTRP 5.0 rating. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in sports management from Pfeiffer, where he served as captain. His professional journey includes leadership roles at premier tennis facilities, including Director of Tennis at Hamilton Lakes Swim & Tennis Club, where he oversaw all tennis operations, staff management and court maintenance for a multi-surface facility.

Throughout his career, Williams has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in player development, having taught all levels of tennis and pickleball through private lessons and group clinics. His expertise extends to organizing competitive leagues, social events and junior programs, as well as managing budgets and pro shop operations.

Williams’ appointment continues to reflect HPU’s dedication to providing exceptional opportunities for student-athletes in its growing Intercollegiate Club Sports program. He will build an intrasquad competitive ranking system while taking the top players to compete in the Tennis On Campus national program and versus other collegiate programs nationally.
