HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University announced the appointment of Katie Johnson as Operations Manager for Intercollegiate Club Sports (ICS).
In this newly created role, Johnson will oversee the day-to-day operations that keep High Point's ever-growing club sports program running smoothly and safely. Her primary responsibilities include managing game-day logistics and event oversight, securing and preparing venues, and enhancing the overall atmosphere and student experience at club competitions. She will also assist with team travel and student recruitment.
A lifelong athlete, Johnson grew up immersed in competitive sports and continued her playing career through college club sports and adult recreational leagues. That first-hand experience gives her a unique understanding of what student-athletes need both in and out of competition.
"Katie brings the intangible leadership qualities of a true educator," said
Dr. Stephen Denny, ICS Athletic Director. "She is personable, enthusiastic, highly organized and deeply relational—exactly the kind of leader our club sport participants deserve as we continue expanding opportunities for Panthers to compete at a high level."
Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in education. Her passion for creating positive and inclusive environments will be instrumental as High Point University's club sports program continues its rapid growth, currently supporting almost 900 student-athletes across a wide variety of sports.
"I'm thrilled to join the High Point family and support our club sport athletes in every way possible," Johnson said. "My goal is to remove barriers so coaches can coach, players can compete, and everyone enjoys an outstanding Panthers experience."
