HIGH POINT, N.C. – After spending the last 18 months as assistant coach, High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports (ICS) Director of Athletics,
Dr. Stephen Denny, announced that
Andrew McLaughlin was elevated to head coach of the men's lacrosse program.
McLaughlin is a dedicated lacrosse coach and leader with a strong foundation in both player development and program building. He has spent several years investing in the growth of the game at multiple levels, bringing experience from high school programs, club teams and collegiate environments into his new role.
"I am incredibly grateful and honored for the opportunity to be named the head coach of High Point University ICS Men's Club Lacrosse," said McLaughlin. "Joining the program nearly two seasons ago as an assistant coach was already a tremendous opportunity, and it allowed me to learn, grow, and gain valuable experience coaching at the collegiate level."
McLaughlin's coaching journey began early, quickly stepping into leadership roles, including head coaching positions at Oak Ridge Military Academy. He also served as junior varsity head coach at Mount Tabor High School and later as head coach at Wesleyan Christian Academy.
McLaughlin continued to expand his impact through club lacrosse with organizations in both North Carolina and California, gaining a wide range of experience working with athletes of different backgrounds and skill levels.
Since joining the men's lacrosse club sports program at High Point, McLaughlin's approach emphasizes discipline and accountability while building a strong team culture that extends beyond the field. With a background in pastoral ministry studies and sports management, he brings a balanced perspective of leadership, mentorship, and competitive drive to every program he leads.
"I have a great deal of respect for the coaches and players who helped build the foundation and culture of this program and I'm thankful for the trust that has been placed in me to continue leading it forward," continued McLaughlin. "My goal is to build upon that foundation, raise the standard year after year and create a program that competes at a high level while developing strong leaders both on-and-off the field. I'm excited about what's ahead and ready to get to work."
