Trio of Women’s Soccer, Rowing and Baseball Highlight High Point University Intercollegiate Club Slate on Weekend

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports program heads into the third weekend of April with the women's soccer, rowing and baseball teams highlighting the slate. 

The following is a breakdown of each team's events during that span:

BASEBALL

After taking to the road for six of the last seven games, the High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports baseball squad will host a three-game series East Carolina this weekend, marking the first of seven straight home games. 

The three-game set versus the Pirates begins on Saturday at 12 p.m., and the second game will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams return to Williard Stadium on Sunday afternoon for an 11 a.m. tilt. 

Despite losing a series on the road at North Carolina, the High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports baseball team put an end to its 11-game losing skid with a decisive 12-1 victory over the Tar Heels when the two teams clashed in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill. 

The 12-run outing marked the 10th time this season that head coach Todd Murphy's squad has topped double-digit scoring. North Carolina split the Saturday doubleheader by posting a 10-2 victory in game two. The Tar Heels and Panthers returned to the diamond on Sunday afternoon, where North Carolina escaped with a 7-6 win by virtue of a late rally, despite 10 hits from High Point in the contest. 

ROWING

On April 4th, two weeks after competing in the John Ferriss Lanier Shamrock Sprints in Gainesville, Ga., the High Point's Intercollegiate Club Sports rowing team returned to the water to competed in the Clemson Sprints in Clemson, S.C. 

The event, held at Lake Hartwell in Seneca, S.C., resulted in four top five finishes for the Panthers. The women's team claimed third (Open 2x) and fifth (Collegiate Novice 4+), while the men's unit emerged with a third-place finish in the Open 2x and a fourth-place outing in the Men's Novice 4+. 

Both Wake Forest (8:43.6) and College of Charleston (9:09.19) finished in front of the High Point women (9:34.30) in the women's open 2x. High Point capped off the women's collegiate novice 4+ with a time of 10:33.68, an event that went to host Clemson's A unit, which posted a time of 8:00.7. 

The Panther men crossed the finish line in 10:35.28 in the men's 2x, resulting in the third-place finish. Meanwhile, in the men's collegiate novice 4+, High Point posted a time of 9:07.7. The top spot in the event belonged to Clemson's 'B' squad, which posted a time of 7:36.99. The event also included competitors from Tennessee, N.C. State and Wake Forest.

After finishing off the season with a 9-6-3 record, the High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports women's soccer team completes the 2025-26 postseason with an appearance in the National Tournament, set for Richmond, Va. 

The Panthers are on a four-game winning streak with two wins against Davidson and two versus Western Carolina. High Point competed in six games during the spring, after taking part in the NIRSA Championships in Overland Park, Kansas, in late November. The Panthers dropped the first two games of the spring to N.C. State on March 7th and March 8th. 

This weekend's tournament will pit High Point against the trio of West Chester (Pa.) (April 16), Fordham (April 16) and Florida State (April 17).
