The High Point University Intercollegiate Club Sports baseball team returned home for a three-game series against ninth-ranked East Carolina over the weekend. It marked the first home series for the Panthers since they hosted Tennessee on March 13-14.

High Point, which had played on the road for six of the last seven games, faced stiff competition from the Pirates.

East Carolina opened the series on Saturday by becoming just the sixth different team this season to reach double-digit runs. The Pirates emerged with 15 runs on 11 hits and capitalized on five High Point miscues in the field.

The Panthers returned to the field in the second game of the series on Saturday and tallied five hits and did not commit an error in the field. However, it was three runs in the first that proved to be the difference, as East Carolina allowed just two runs in the sixth to earn the victory.

East Carolina put the finishing touches on the series on Sunday with a decisive 24-3 win, highlighted by 20 hits. The Pirates had five multi-run innings, while High Point scored on run each in the first, second and third innings. The Panthers tallied seven hits in the setback.
